Juragareeswarar Temple Located near Ekambareeswarar Temple Sannathi Street. This is an ASI maintained temple and is next to the Pandava Thootha Perumal temple to the south of Sannidhi street of Sri Ekambareswarar temple. Shiva in linga is Suyambu form known as Juragareeswarar . Demon Juragan was destroyed here. Devas worshipped in this place to cure them selves from disease due to heat and they were cured. Shiva here, is known to cure the devotees of their ailments such as fever, relieves them of the heat present in their body and helps to maintain the normal body temperature. There are five windows in the sanctum sanctorum itself which is circular. It is a shining example of the architectural skill. The whole temple is built of stones and many holy figures are engraved on them. It is a magnificent temple that attracts count less number of devotees. Kanchipuram "Golden City Of Temples" was believed to be the most attractive city of ancient India. This city is one of India's seven sacred cities and is considered the second holiest place in India next to Varanasi. History proclaims that Kanchipuram was ruled by the Pallava Kings. This city was the Historical Capital of the Pallavas, the Cholas and the Vijayanagar rulers. It was under the Pallavas from 6th to 8th century A.D. It later became the citadel of the Cholas, Vijayanagar kings, the Muslims and the British. During Pallava times, it was briefly occupied by the Chalukyans of Badami, and by the Rastrakutas when the battle fortunes of the Pallava kings reached a low ebb. Many of these temples are the beautiful work of Pallavas and later, Cholas. The remains of a few Buddhist stupas here also bear testimony that Buddhism also prevailed here for a while.
